Snow Routes
Snow routes keep traffic moving and expedite snow plowing after heavy snowfall by declaring a 24-hour parking ban along a designated route.
Sign Up for Notifications
Download the new, FREE Sweep&Plow App to get alerts on your phone, or sign up for customized notifications below.
Sign up to find out when a snow route is declared. It’s the most direct way to know when a snow route has been declared and the 24-hour parking ban will be in effect.
When a Snow Route is declared, an alert is sent to all app customers, regardless if a resident lives on a snow route or not. This is to ensure that anyone parked along that snow route, for shorter or longer periods of time, is notified to move their vehicle.
FAQs
Find answers to commonly asked questions about the Sweep&Plow App.
Why is text message service being discontinued?
In April 2022, the telecommunications industry increased text messaging costs. As a cost-saving measure, we transitioned to a mobile app that offers a very similar, if not better, experience for receiving reminders.
How will this change the way I get reminders?
Instead of your reminder being sent to you as a text, you’ll receive a push notifications through the app when you need to move your car for seasonal road maintenance – such as street sweepers or snow plows.
What’s the difference between a text and a push notification?
Push notifications and text reminders are very similar but have some key differences. Push notifications are sent directly from the mobile app, whereas a text message relies on a third-party telecom provider for distribution.
How does the app work?
Simply type in your address and you will receive notifications if you need to move your car for any seasonal road maintenance, such as snow routes, residential snow plows or street sweeping.
I don’t have a smartphone - what can I do?
Alternative options are available. You can sign up for an email reminder or opt-in for a phone call reminder.
Can I set multiple addresses using the app?
The Sweep&Plow app is intended to service a single household and there is currently not an option to set multiple addresses. Options available that do allow for multiple addresses include email or phone call.
I downloaded the app but I’m still not receiving notifications.
There are a couple ways to ensure your notifications are turned on.
- Phone Settings → Notifications → Sweep&Plow App → Allow Notifications
- App Settings → Open the App → Notifications → Ensure changed to “Yes”.
*Still not receiving push notifications? Please report the problem within the mobile app. Click “More” and then under Support click “Report a Problem”
When will I receive a notification to move my car?
Push notifications are only sent when a snow route or residential plow is declared.
Winter maintenance crews perform general routine snow plow activities throughout the winter.
The City completes activities such as snow plowing, snow routes, ice control and manages the Snow Storage Site, as per the Winter Maintenance Policy. The policy was updated in 2021 following an extensive review that considered best practices, consultation with other municipalities and internal departments, as well as feedback generated through public engagement.
