After School Program
Drop-in activities start back up September 11 to June: Kids ages 7 to 15 (depending on location) can play, learn and keep active in an environment that develops and fosters creativity and positive self-image in our inclusive, free, drop-in after school program at the Glencairn Neighbourhood Centre and Mitakuyé Owâs’ā Centre, Monday to Friday and Cathedral Neighbourhood Centre (Monday & Wednesday) between 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Drop-in open gym time is available at both Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre (Monday to Friday) for those aged 8-15 and South Leisure Centre (Tuesday & Thursday) for all ages.

Free Children’s Summer Program
Free Children’s Summer Program or PlayEscapes is an inclusive summer program for ages 5 to 12, which offers leader-facilitated play opportunities to help develop and foster life skills, creativity, imagination, and positive self-image while promoting a physically active lifestyle. Self-directed play is also encouraged to explore and discover with the safety of supervision.
The 2024 edition of the program will run July 8 to August 16, Monday to Friday. There are locations that run 9:30am to 4:30 pm and others from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. (please check table below). Program will be offered in one-week session blocks; participants will be eligible to sign up for two of the one-week blocks and be placed on a waitlist for more.
The Free Children’s Summer Program is for all children who are 5 years old, by date of program, to 12 years old. We welcome children and youth of all abilities. Due to the number of participants, we ask that the individuals requiring one-on-one support/assistance please bring a support person/attendant.

Participants may register for two one-week blocks. If you wish to register for more weeks, please call the PlayLine to be added to the waitlist. If a location is not full after the first day of program, the waitlist will be called to add participants to the program.
Registration is required, and participants must complete a Participant Information Form with Photo Release and return it to the program location on the first day your child(ren) attends programming. The Participant Information Form does not act as registration; you must register online or through the PlayLine to be formally registered.
2024 Free Children’s Summer Program Dates and Locations
The sessions for Free Children's Summer Program are as follows: July 8-July 12, July 15-19, July 22-26, July 29-Aug 1, Aug 6-9 and Aug 12-16. There will be no program on statutory holidays (August 5th).

**Drop-In Location. Capacity for each site is 30 kids in order to provide quality programming to all in attendance. Days are filled on a first come first serve basis. Drop-Off time is between 9:30-10am.
