Established in 1883, Regina Cemetery is one of Saskatchewan’s oldest urban cemeteries. With over 30,000 plots, there are many historical figures buried at Regina Cemetery including lives lost in the 1912 Regina Tornado, Spanish influenza, the north-west rebellion and the 1935 Regina Riot. There are approximately 50 interments each year. A limited number of interment options are available including columbaria niches and the scattering garden.

Established in 1953, Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery is located in a quiet park like setting. A wide range of traditional and cremation interment options are available for consideration including an ossuary, scattering garden, in ground burial and columbaria niches. Approximately 600 interments occur here each year. The grounds are irrigated, with an intensive grounds maintenance program throughout the summer months.
Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery opened its gates in 1953. The land designated to the cemetery was divided into four sections and over the years, portions of each section were developed as land was needed. The last time an area in the cemetery was developed was in the mid-1980s. At the current rate of interments, this area will reach capacity in the next several years.
Developing the next area of the cemetery will allow us to continue to provide a variety of traditional and cremation interment options to the community. The area to be developed is within the current property lines of Riverside Cemetery. The estimated cost to develop the expansion area at Riverside Cemetery is $1.7m and is fully funded from the Cemeteries Reserve.
Expansion of Riverside Cemetery includes land levelling, drainage, surveying, irrigation, pump house upgrades, road construction, strip foundations, trees, landscaping, sodding and seeding. The area to be developed is approximately 2.8 hectares and should accommodate interment needs for the next years 25-30 years.
The expansion project is slated to break ground Spring 2022 with construction completed Winter 2022. Please be mindful of the construction equipment and vehicles and stay away from the construction areas. We apologize for any inconvenience or disruption this may cause and we appreciate your understanding while this project is ongoing.
