Upgrading the Albert Street North Overpasses
The City is supporting Regina’s growing economy by upgrading a vital commuter and trucking route. The major project will see the replacement of the Albert Street North overpasses, two structures that are currently in poor condition.
The Albert Street North Overpass Upgrade Project will involve fully replacing both overpasses while reusing much of their existing foundations. The southbound overpass will be replaced in 2025 and the northbound overpass in 2026. The new structures will be raised to reduce potential damage from over-height vehicles and will include upgraded barriers and guardrails that meet modern safety standards. The project will be completed in October 2026 and will deliver two fully refurbished overpasses that will support Regina's transportation network for decades to come.
Beginning on Monday, March 24, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction across the northbound lanes for the duration of the 2025 construction season. The northwest loop ramp will also be closed throughout 2025, but detours with signage will be in place to provide vehicles with an alternate route. Lane closures on Ring Road will occur intermittently during the project. The City will be utilizing night and weekend work for full Ring Road closures to minimize daytime traffic disruptions. These restrictions will ensure the safety of drivers and workers in the construction zone. The City will provide advance notice of all traffic restrictions as work progresses. Watch for signs and use caution. For up-to-date traffic restrictions, residents can visit Regina.ca/roads.
