The City Progresses on Two Major Construction Projects
The City of Regina is making advancements on two of its major projects, the Water Network Expansion and Dewdney Avenue Corridor Revitalization.
Starting on July 8, the Ring Road eastbound cloverleaf on-ramp at Albert Street North will be closed for about seven weeks to install a water main as part of the Water Network Expansion Project. Before this closure begins, the City will be reopening the Ring Road on-ramp at Argyle Street on July 4, helping minimize the construction’s public impact.
The Water Network Expansion Project is a major project that enables the City to continue meeting the water pressure and storage needs of both current residents while also providing a long-term solution to support growth. This project will include planting additional trees and upgrading the lights along portions of Ring Road. The Water Network Expansion webpage at Regina.ca/waterexpansion highlights more information about this project, including a map showcasing the expansion plan.
Starting the week of July 8, the Dewdney Avenue Corridor Revitalization Project will move into its next phase with wastewater and stormwater infrastructure installation. To complete the work safely, traffic accommodations along Dewdney Avenue will be required for four to six weeks. These traffic accommodations include road restrictions, a short-duration sidewalk restriction and a road closure from Scarth Street to Broad Street. The City will maintain existing wastewater service levels throughout this construction by installing a temporary sewer bypass pumping system. Residents can find a wayfinding map for this phase, 1B here.
The Dewdney Avenue Corridor Revitalization will create a more vibrant community through the replacement of aging underground infrastructure, a new road surface, widened sidewalks, improved lighting, multi-purpose outdoor spaces, a tree canopy and landscaping. This major project will transform Dewdney Avenue between Albert Street and Broad Street into a more aesthetically pleasing corridor for the public to enjoy with improved pedestrian and driver safety. The work on Dewdney Avenue is a part of “The Yards” Railyard Renewal Project. Residents can learn more about this project by visiting Regina.ca/dewdney.
