The City Announces Lionel Peyachew for Horizon Station Art Park Project
The City of Regina is pleased to announce the selection of local artist Lionel Peyachew for the Horizon Station Park public art installation. Peyachew, a celebrated Indigenous artist, will bring his unique point of view and artistic expertise to this significant project, set to enhance Regina’s cultural and historical landscape.
Peyachew’s work will explore the theme of railways in Saskatchewan, reflecting on the complex histories and underrepresented stories of the region’s railroads.
Horizon Station Park is a year-round recreation area with an outdoor skating rink, dog park, basketball nets, and a train-themed playground. Peyachew's work will be a central feature, introducing a new narrative that endeavors to add depth and interest to the space.
The project is part of the City's commitment to expand opportunities for professional artists working in our community by fostering innovation, cultural expressions and artistic excellence. The project is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2025.
