Star Stories Night: A Celebration of Indigenous Storytelling for Regina Families
Regina families are invited to explore the wonders of the night sky at Star Stories Night, a free community event celebrating Indigenous Storytelling Month. Taking place on February 28 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., this special evening is made possible through a partnership between the Saskatchewan Science Centre, Regina Public Library (RPL), and the City of Regina.
Participants can enjoy a variety of engaging activities across three locations:
RPL Albert Branch at mâmawêyatitân Centre
- Discover the cosmos with Laurie Rousseau-Nepton, Canada’s first Indigenous woman astrophysicist.
- Experience Indigenous storytelling inside the Star Dome.
- Join a guided snowshoe tour.
Saskatchewan Science Centre
- Be captivated by a winter dance performance by New Dance Horizons.
- Explore the entire exhibit floor.
- Learn about space with University of Regina astrophysics professor Samantha Lawler.
Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre
- Create constellation-themed crafts with Indigenous artist Jamie Reynolds.
- Embark on a virtual reality constellation journey.
- Join Nature Regina for a guided night walk to learn about night vision.
- Gather around an outdoor firepit to hear Indigenous stories under the stars, with hot chocolate provided by El Tropezón food truck.
Free shuttles will be available to transport attendees between locations, and exciting prizes are up for grabs!
