Spring Litter Cleanup Begins in Regina
Spring is here, the snow will be gone soon, and it’s time for the City of Regina’s annual spring litter cleanup to begin. As we set out to clean up our community this spring, all of us have important roles to play.
City crews are collecting litter alongside Ring Road, Victoria Avenue East, Arcola Avenue, Lewvan Drive and other high-speed roadways. For their safety, the City reminds drivers to please slow down when passing workers.
Spring litter pickup will continue until the grass begins to grow, which is typically in May/June. Crews cleaned up visible litter during the winter months, which should help reduce spring cleanup efforts.
Residents can help keep our city free of litter by getting involved in our Adopt-a-Greenspace program, which allows volunteers to take responsibility for maintaining a specific open space area. This includes litter cleanup of small parks, medians, and shrub beds, for example. Residents may also do their part by picking up litter and putting it in public trash bins. We also remind residents heading to the Landfill to secure and tarp all loads to prevent objects from falling onto City roads.
