Revitalization of Dewdney Avenue Continues in 2025
The City is continuing its work to revitalize Dewdney Avenue by fully replacing aging underground infrastructure. The project will also transform the corridor into a safer and more welcoming area with a new road, widened sidewalks, improved lighting, multi-purpose outdoor spaces, a tree canopy and landscaping.
The Dewdney Avenue Corridor Revitalization Project is entering its second year of construction. After this construction season, residents will be able to see the enhanced look and feel of Dewdney Avenue, as illustrated by the project rendering below. A gallery of renderings are available to view and download on the project website at Regina.ca/dewdney.
There will be road closures throughout the construction season to ensure worker and resident safety, but local businesses in the Warehouse District are open. To help residents access these businesses, walkways along the north side of Dewdney Avenue and free parking in the Yards Neighbourhood site will be available throughout the 2025 construction season. Drivers can access parking on the Yards via either Hamilton Street or Scarth Street, depending on the phase of construction. On-site signage will be posted to support wayfinding to the pedestrian walkway and the Yards parking. The City will also provide advance notice of changes to road closures and traffic restrictions as work progresses. Residents can also check the Road Report at Regina.ca/roads for current traffic restrictions. The Road Report continues to be integrated directly into Waze, which populates closures onto Google Maps, allowing drivers to access this information from both popular navigation apps.
Transit routes along Dewdney Avenue will continue to be temporarily relocated to 8th Avenue during construction. Please check TransitLive for up-to-date information.
The first phase of construction in 2025 is scheduled to start on April 7 and will last approximately 2-3 months. This phase will see two full road closures on Dewdney Avenue, from Albert Street to Lorne Street and from Scarth Street to Broad Street. These closures will support the continued installation of underground wastewater, stormwater and water infrastructure and allow for the completion of the road surface. Yards parking can be accessed via Scarth Street during this phase of the construction. A wayfinding map, real-time updates on construction progress and project details can also be found on the project website.
The Dewdney Avenue Corridor Revitalization Project is part of the City Centre Revitalization Plan to create a walkable, welcoming and safe city centre that attracts more people and businesses to live, work, visit and invest.
