Regina’s Downtown Set for Summer Revitalization with $500,000 Grant
As part of Council’s strategic focus on Downtown revitalization, the City of Regina has announced a series of planned investments aimed at enhancing the Downtown experience for residents, visitors, and businesses. These initiatives, developed in partnership with the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District (RDBID) are set to be implemented for Summer 2024.
The planned initiatives are supported by a one-time Downtown vibrancy grant of $500,000 from the City. It will encompass a wide range of improvements, including increased road and sidewalk maintenance, enhanced cleanliness, vibrant murals, landscaping enhancements, ongoing entertainment, and more. These efforts aim to create a downtown experience that is lively, welcoming, and enjoyable for all.
“Our downtown is the heart of our city,” said Regina Mayor Sandra Masters. “We know that cultivating a vibrant and active city centre not only makes it a more attractive place for residents and visitors but also contributes to its safety. Through our valued partnership with the RDBID, we hope to encourage more folks to experience the exceptional restaurants, businesses, and amenities that our downtown has to offer.”
The City’s investment in these initiatives aligns closely with its strategic priority of creating a Vibrant Community by focusing on the revitalization of Regina’s Downtown city centre. With these initiatives, City Council and Administration reaffirm their dedication to enhancing Regina's Downtown as a thriving destination for all.
