Regina’s Construction Season Nears Completion: October Updates
To help prepare for growth and build a more vibrant community, the City of Regina continues its work on these major construction projects:
Dewdney Avenue Corridor Revitalization Project
While most of this year’s planned construction is nearing completion, crews will continue to work on Dewdney Avenue as long as the weather cooperates. The road and sidewalk reinstatement along Dewdney between Broad and Hamilton Streets is progressing well. The deep sewer work between Albert and McIntyre Streets is now complete; however, underground water and stormwater improvements will carry into next month.
Dewdney will reopen between Albert and McIntyre Streets by the middle of November and be fully open to two-way traffic by the end of November. Work will resume in spring and focus on underground pipe installation, roadway, sidewalk, lighting and landscaping. Residents can find more information at Regina.ca/Dewdney including renderings of the completed project.
Southwest Sewer Upgrade Project
Crews continue to install a large-diameter sewer pipeline, mostly within AE Wilson Park.
The Rick Hansen Optimist Playground, adjacent pathways and most of the parking lot off McCarthy Boulevard and Brunskill Place will remain closed into November to maintain a safe construction site. Most of the pipe installation will be completed by early November with commissioning and landscaping to be completed in 2025. Work has commenced on the large concrete chamber at the McCarthy Boulevard Pumping Station, with completion anticipated in early 2025.
Visit Regina.ca/Southwest for up-to-date information. Work on the next phase of this project is expected to commence in 2025 and will be located in AE Wilson Park starting near Wascana Creek and moving south through Kent Street crossing Dewdney Avenue.
Water Network Expansion Project
Contractors continue to install the water main and expressway lighting along Ring Road, between Broad and McDonald Streets. Traffic restrictions remain on Ring Road and drivers are reminded to watch for signage as active work zones shift with the crews.
Visit Regina.ca/WaterExpansion for additional information about this project. Work will resume in spring of 2025 to commission the new Redbear Pumping Station and Reservoirs, and complete landscaping, fencing and water testing of the newly installed pipeline along Ring Road.
11th Avenue Revitalization Project
11th Avenue has officially reopened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic and Transit routes have resumed on 11th. This concludes the work planned for the 2024 construction season.
Visit Regina.ca/11thAvenue for more information about this multi-year project which will resume in spring of 2025 to replace the remaining underground pipes and upgrade sidewalks and the roadway.
The City makes every effort to minimize impacts on residents through extensive planning and coordination. Advanced signage will be in place to help drivers navigate construction zones and keep construction workers safe. Residents are reminded that construction zones change with the work and are encouraged to plan ahead by visiting the Road Report at Regina.ca/Roads
