Regina Transit Increasing Convenience for Customers
Two new initiatives are coming to Regina Transit that will make it easier for customers to move about the city.
Today is the official launch of Regina Transit’s new fare payment system. The new system, called Umo (You-mo), will provide customers with more convenient ways to pay for transit services.
“Starting today, transit riders will be able to pay for their ride using a mobile payment app, reloadable smart card or cash,” said Director of Transit Nathan Luhning. “A second phase in 2025 will bring in options to pay via credit card, debit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay.”
Riders can download the Umo app for free from the App Store or Google Play Store, which will allow them to load their passes or rides directly on their phones without the need for a card.
For customers who prefer to use a card, Umo cards can be loaded in person through a transit agent or online through the new web portal. Customers can still use their current R-Card on the bus up until October 31, 2024, which will allow everyone to transition at their own pace.
And starting August 25, the City is adding over 25,000 hours of transit service on weekends, holidays and evenings. This will mean more frequent bus service on some of Regina’s busiest Transit routes.
