Closure of Some Outdoor Rinks due to Warm Weather
Several of the City of Regina outdoor rinks are closed due to the recent warm temperatures causing the ice to melt. The rinks closed to the public are:
- Elsie Mironuck - Boarded
- Eastview - Boarded & Non-Boarded
- Glen Elm – Boarded
- Judge Bryant - Boarded & Non-Boarded
- University Park – Boarded
- W.F. Ready – Boarded
- Horizon Station – Boarded
- Stan Oxelgren – Boarded
- Speed Skating Oval
Residents are urged to stay off these ice surfaces, especially the boarded rinks. The melted ice along the boards has exposed crusher dust and asphalt, posing a safety hazard for skaters.
Skaters can still enjoy the City outdoor rinks that remain open, as well as the indoor arenas. Locations can be found at Regina.ca/rinks.
City crews will assess the closed outdoor rinks on Monday, February 5 to determine if they are salvageable to be reopened for the remaining winter season.
During this warm spell, the City will provide daily updates on the status of all its outdoor rinks at Regina.ca/rinks.
