City to Light the Lights for the Winter Season
Bundle up with your family and friends for the annual Light the Lights outdoor celebration in front of City Hall on Tuesday, December 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. Join the newly elected City Council as we light up City Hall and the Queen Elizabeth II Courtyard for the season.
Light the Lights is a free family-friendly event that showcases Regina as a Winter City. Enjoy fun winter activities including horse-drawn wagon rides, interactive ice creations, outdoor activities and games, local entertainment, free hot chocolate, a virtual colouring contest, and of course, a visit from Santa.
This year, we are excited to showcase a variety of local musicians, performers and activities that reflect the many ways residents welcome winter. Scheduled to perform and host activities are Balfour Arts Collective, Dickens Yuletide Singers, Regina Highland Dancers Association, Lone Creek Dance Troupe mentored by Jeff Cappo, Latino singer and storyteller Alejandra Coronel, Magician Keegan Duck, Growing Young Movers, Regina Bell Ringers, Fire & Ice Creations, and more!
Children ages 12 and under are invited to participate in our ‘virtual’ colouring contest in the spirit of the holiday season. Participants can download the colouring sheet online and enter to win a draw prize. This year’s colouring page “Persistence & Empowerment” was created by Regina-based Métis artist, Phyllis Poitras-Jarrett of Métis Spirit Art. The contest closes Tuesday, December 10.
To accommodate the event activities, streets adjacent to City Hall will be limited to one lane with limited/restricted parking from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.:
