City Seeking Feedback about Residential Energy Retrofits
The City of Regina is gathering preliminary research from homeowners and renters relating to energy efficiency of the buildings in which Regina residents live. Homeowners and renters are invited to share their feedback and experiences about energy efficiency. There are two ways to participate:
- Complete a 10-minute questionnaire by Friday, May 31.
- Apply to participate in a roundtable discussion no later than Wednesday, May 22. Three session options are available based on different needs:
- Homeowners in-person session – Monday, May 27, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
- Homeowners online session – Thursday, May 30, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
- Renters in-person session – Tuesday, May 28, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Sustainability Solutions Group is completing this research on behalf of the City of Regina. The study is funded through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
The research, data collected from key stakeholders, along with technical and financial analysis, will become part of the Community Energy Efficiency Financing Feasibility Study. The study will be used to inform potential financing options for residents to undertake home energy efficiency retrofits. Any funding program options would need to be approved by City Council in future budgets.
In 2022, the City of Regina adopted the Energy and Sustainability Framework, which is the city's plan to reach our goal of becoming a 100 per cent renewable, net-zero community by 2050. To achieve this goal, the plan identifies the need for deep energy retrofits to reduce 50 per cent of energy use in all residential buildings, and to explore options to support community members to undertake these projects.
