City Continues Public Engagement for Scarth Street Mall Revitalization; Releases Initial Survey Results
The City of Regina has announced the next phase of public engagement in the revitalization project for the F.W. Hill Mall on Scarth Street, commonly known as Scarth Street Mall. As part of on-going efforts to support an active, vibrant, and attractive downtown area, the City will be continuing conversations this summer with the community to shape the future of this important public space.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to check out the updated project page at Regina.ca/Scarth and sign-up for updates.
This engagement builds on the results of the public survey conducted in May 2023. The survey received a great response, with over 6,600 participants providing valuable feedback. Key findings from the survey indicate a strong preference for maintaining a pedestrian-only environment, along with other suggestions for potential improvements to the space, reflecting the community's desire for a lively, walkable space in the heart of downtown.
Following a decision made during the 2024 budget process the construction for the project has been rescheduled to begin in 2027. This extension allows the City more time to engage with the community, gather additional insights, and refine the vision for Scarth Street Mall.
