Applications Open for 2025 Indigenous Artist in Residence
The City of Regina is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2025 Indigenous Artist in Residence Program.
This part-time residency allows an Indigenous artist (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis) to explore their artistic practice, engage the community through free and accessible programming, and create a work of art for the City’s Civic Art Collection. The program amplifies Indigenous artistic voices while celebrating Indigenous culture within the community.
The 2025 theme, “Indigenous Futurism,” invites artists to imagine and create work that envisions Indigenous perspectives of the future. Artists working in any medium—including but not limited to 2D and 3D visual arts, Indigenous traditional arts, dance, music, spoken or written word, public art, textiles, new media, and performance—are encouraged to apply.
As part of the residency, the selected artist will facilitate public engagement activities, such as workshops and artist talks, designed to align with their practice.
This opportunity reflects the City’s commitment to reconciliation by strengthening Indigenous cultural representation and creating opportunities for Indigenous artists. The residency runs from June to October 2025, and the deadline for applications is March 24, 2025, at 4 p.m. CST.
