Wastewater moves through pipes by the force of gravity. Because Regina's landscape is so flat, we use neighbourhood lift stations to help continue the flow of wastewater all the way to the McCarthy Boulevard Pumping Station. It’s then screened and pumped to the Wastewater Treatment Plant located just west of Regina. The Wastewater Treatment Plant removes pollutants from the water before the treated wastewater, called effluent, is discharged into Wascana Creek.
The City owns and holds the Permit to Operate the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Residents should contact Service Regina at 306-777-7000 for billing inquiries, sewage backups, flooding or drainage concerns, water service or water quality issues.
EPCOR has the contract to operate and maintain the plant. EPCOR should be contacted for any concerns related to the construction and operation of the facility.
