I’m Lee Harding, journalist, public policy researcher, and candidate for Regina Public School Board in Subdivision 5. I believe we must hire more teachers and educational assistants. Otherwise, some classes will remain too big to handle, and special needs students won't get necessary attention.
Falling test scores show we must re-examine our approach to teaching literacy and math. Our schools must also encourage achievement. We should abandon the practice of passing primary school children to the next grade without earning or learning their way there. We don’t take this approach in swimming lessons or martial arts and we shouldn’t in school either, since every grade builds on the one before.
I do support parental rights in education regarding pronouns and other matters. Public schools should be places of learning, not activism, and should not contradict the values parents want to instill in their children. Learn more at VoteforLee.ca.
