New Accessible Washroom Opens in the Downtown Area
A new stand-alone, accessible washroom opened in Downtown Regina on Tuesday, March 19, marking a significant step in enhancing public facilities. This initiative, directed by Council, is in response to community needs and underscores the City’s commitment to providing essential services for both residents and visitors.
The newly constructed washroom is designed to be a single-stall, all-gender facility, equipped with a baby changing table. It is strategically located along Lorne Street on the west end of the Pat Fiacco Plaza to ensure convenience for community members.
Operating hours for the downtown accessible washroom will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. This was informed by lessons learned during a recent porta-potty pilot project on the Pat Fiacco Plaza. Operating hours may be subject to review and change in the late spring and summer months based on usage data, allowing the City to adapt to the evolving needs of the community.
The City of Regina remains committed to creating inclusive and functional public spaces. The downtown accessible washroom is an important addition to the city’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the well-being and convenience of its residents and visitors.
