City Releases Results of Pre-Budget Survey
The City of Regina is releasing the results of consultations with residents on their priorities when it comes to investing municipal tax dollars.
Residents offered feedback on the next City Budget by participating in the City’s pre-budget survey, which was open in June 2024. The survey saw a notable increase in participation, with 30 per cent more residents taking the time to share their priorities and expectations, weigh in on the City’s financial direction, and offer feedback on how potential investments align with the City’s strategic goals.
Some highlights of the survey results include:
- The top three spending priorities according to respondents should be road construction, public safety, and snow clearing.
- Residents want to see reductions in property taxes and City expenses, and increases in capital spending for roads, water, sewer and recreation projects.
The results of the survey and a summary of resident and stakeholder feedback is available to City Administration and City Council to inform their budget deliberations.
The City Budget allocates general operating funds, which support the more than 60 services that the City provides to residents, as well as resources for capital investments and projects across the City.
The City is proposing a one-year budget for 2025 to give the newly-elected Council time to define their strategic priorities before having to weigh multi-year investment decisions. Council will consider this proposal at a special meeting of Council on October 1, 2024.
