Councillor Shobna Radons is sitting for her first term as a member of Regina City Council, representing the residents of Ward 7.
Biography
Shobna believes that community matters; people matter and making our community better for all where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Improving the lives of all Regina residents should always be our priority. Her work involved working with labour for many years driving change that would benefit not only workers but also society.
Participated in many committees from Occupational Health and Safety, Human Rights, Tribunals; National Union Disciplinary, Employment Insurance Board of Referees, Executive Board for Regina & District Labour Council and Saskatchewan Federation of Labour, the United Way Regina Board. As President of the Regina & District Labour Council for 7 years; she has done a lot of work connecting community organizations with labour and worked with them to help the most needy in our community. Shobna spent many years as a bookkeeper and administrator in the military and the Labour Council. She is good at organizing and coordinating many activities, conferences and meetings, and chaired many meetings and committees. Done a lot of volunteering in her community and giving her time to help people. She is very politically active in her community and works hard to make effective change.
Shobna has a lot of education through her Union of Canadian Union of Postal Workers held many positions to help her members from Human Rights, Health and Safety, Discipline, and Short Term Disability. Spent many years receiving education and the last 10 years has returned the favour to educate others. She has taken leadership training, shop steward, conflict resolution, mediation training, 2005 Union Education Program graduate, 2012 Labour College graduate, facilitation training, certified facilitator. Majored in Psychology and Sociology at the University of Regina, not completed her degree, however worked on the job for the past 20 years or more dealing with people; helping them and guiding them on contract and constitutional concerns. Helped in mediation also to bring people together.
Shobna and her partner raised two girls in Regina, now a proud grandmother and loves animals, has a lot of fur babies over the years and many now, too many to list.
