Research shows that if we convert one park, such as Victoria Park to solar lighting, it could reduce electricity usage by approximately 61,000 kWh annually, which is equivalent to eight homes. This pilot will help us decide if solar lights are the best option for future city planning.
The City of Regina has committed to becoming a renewable City by 2050. Regina’s Energy & Sustainability Framework will outline the community-wide actions that need to be taken to achieve this goal, including targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to renewable energy sources.
