The Regina Fire & Protective Services Department is made up of approximately 303 professionals in five divisions. Suppression and Rescue personnel operate a four platoon, two shift rotation. On average, the Regina Fire & Protective Services Department responds to more than 9,000 calls for assistance per year.

Education
To become a Firefighter, you first must take training that meets the standards set by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFASC).

Applicant Fitness Assessment Protocol
Regina Fire & Protective Services uses the York University Firefighter Applicant Fitness Assessment Protocol administered by the Centre for Health, Wellness and Performance - Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies staff at the University of Regina or Human Performance Center (HPC) staff at the University of Saskatchewan. Applicants are required to complete a series of tests including aerobic fitness, vision, colour blindness (Ishihara and Farnsworth testing conducted), hearing, lung function, swimming and 8 validated job-related performance tests.
