2000 Solid Waste Management Plan
The City of Regina developed a comprehensive management plan in 2000 designed to guide the City's long range waste management actions.
The 2000 Solid Waste Management Plan covers a wide range of issues pertaining to the collection, recycling and minimizing of waste produced by the residents and businesses of Regina.
Waste Plan Regina is required to replace the 2000 Plan because Regina has changed dramatically in the past 8 years:
- Public interest in and demand for recycling opportunities has increased.
- Various North American cities have developed innovative and visionary solid waste management practices which could be adopted by Regina.
- The phase-out of manual garbage pick-up has created greater operational flexibility for the City of Regina.
- Recycling facilities in southern Saskatchewan may expand over the next few years.
