Let's Talk Trash - Waste Plan Regina
Waste Plan Regina started in the spring of 2008 to review garbage and recycling services. The review was initiated due to increased public interest to reduce waste and the City’s unprecedented rate of growth. These factors, along with others, created the need to develop a new plan to provide continued guidance for the growth of the City’s recycling, garbage and waste services.
Mayor's Address:
Goals of Waste Plan Regina
- To provide excellent customer service to our community;
- To provide a plan for collection, disposal and waste reduction and diversion for residential, industrial, commercial and institutional waste that will guide the City of Regina for the next 10 years;
- To balance program affordability with public acceptance and expectations; and
- To emphasize the following: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Renew and Recycle.
Consultation
We believe it is very important for the public to be involved to help determine Regina’s future waste management. After more than a year of researching endless opportunities and working with stakeholder groups, a list of options was developed. Based on the feedback received, the list has been consolidated into three options consideration.
